Where will we stay?
Both teenagers and adults are accommodated in host families.
Host families play an important role in making sure that your stay in Exeter is comfortable, fun and worthwhile. They offer the best opportunity to learn about British culture and progress with English. Our hosts enjoy sharing their lives and interests with their guests and include them as part of the family. All meals and care are provided in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Our families are inspected in accordance with the British Council accreditation scheme. This includes preparation, home inspections and home safety certification.
Where do we fly from?
We flew from Madrid Barajas to Bristol Airport which is very close to our beloved city of Exeter.
We are picked up by private drivers, sent by The Globe, and taken to the school, where we are welcomed by both the headmaster and the families.
What documentation do we need?
Both teenagers and adults will need a valid passport, a European Health Insurance Card, and the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation).
Adolescents (of Spanish nationality), in addition, will need a parental permit signed by their parents/guardians, which can be obtained from the National Police.
Adolescents of another nationality must also follow the regulatory protocols required by their consulate in each case.
The Wakefield Academy will inform you about all this and help you through the whole process.
How do I book my trip?
We are at your disposal at Wakefield Academy. We will give you all the necessary information and we will hold as many meetings as necessary, so that everything is perfectly organised.
Once registered, 20% of the total amount will be paid and the airline tickets will be purchased (the amount of which depends on the airline and the booking dates).
One month before the trip, the rest of the total price will be paid.
Who accompanies minors?
Minors will be accompanied during the trip and the stay. The person in charge will be at the students' disposal 24/7 for any questions they may have.
On the other hand, the cooperation between Wakefield Academy, the chaperone and the school director is close. There is constant communication to exchange ideas, to solve any problems that may arise, and to ensure the safety and well-being of all students (young people and adults).
The Globe has experienced teachers and monitors who look after the youngsters and help the adults to make their stay more comfortable and enjoyable.
And adults... Are they travelling alone?
Obviously adults, by law, are allowed to travel alone. They can therefore book an individual programme on the dates they consider most appropriate, or join the teenagers' group/dates. Group discounts are usually available. So, it wouldn't hurt to take advantage of this opportunity!
